I just think it would be nice if people would think before they go moaning about the breeders meetings, if you put in months of effort in to organising an event and making sure everything was in place for a meeting to go ahead then for not many people to turn up you'd be dissappointed to say the least, then to come on here and read everyones comments about how 'bad' the show was must be very demoralizing.
No-one can force people to turn out to a breeders meeting, but if you were new to reptiles and had heard there was a meeting in your area, so you did a little research on how good/bad it was the year before and read all the negative responses given, you just would not bother to visit the meetings, whereas if the responses were positive ones you would be more than happy to drive a few hundred miles for a look around.
Basically we kick ourselves in the teeth after most shows.
(I'm not very good at getting my point across)

Maybe lets try to be a bit more positive if we want to keep our shows?
A bad show one year could be a sensational one the next but only with reptile keepers support behind it!

i have to admit to being a tad harsh about ware show myself on another post! all in all it was well organised etc and i for one am greatful to the organisers...i think the disapointment factor for me in total honesty was the rather high entrance fee, the lack of sellers, and the fact that quite a few (as at barking) were charging VERY high prices IMO, there were reasonable priced animals but not that many IMO...in hindsight i do retract my rather harsh comment on the show from before, as in reality it was more the actual lack of variety and high prices of livestock and poor turnout there that disappointed me! not the organisers...i think this year with the credit crunch and prices rocketing this has had an inadvertant effect on the shows also! as everyone is in the same boat money wise in general, and personaly i wasnt expecting near on pet shop prices from a breeders meet...my expectations were to see quality animals at very good prices! as it used to be...but as said they were few and far between! although my pair of proven hognoses were a bargain IMO...its just a shame there werent lots more bargains to be had...sorry for the essay and all in all a big thankyou to the organisers

i didn`t mean anyone in particular, and if you re read i said there were SOME reasonably priced animals! and i said not far off shop prices! but there were more overpriced animals than there were reasonable IMO...i am not intending to offend anyone in particular at all, and i don`t want to start arguing about it! just giving my opinion

This post was not aimed at anyone in particular, I just feel that if 'we' dont help our own hobby then no-one else will do it for us, probably others will do the oposite and use the negativity to get the meetings stopped somehow. I personally am very gratefull to the organisers of meetings be it breeders, club, or public displays etc, without these, finding people with like wise interests would become very limited. Leaving not much more than the forums on which to gain help, friends, new animals, sell existing animals and even just to see in the flesh a variety of animals available in this country.

Help keep our hobby safe
