Hey,

Just checked my emails and the couple that my friends had emailed are a little out of date, but try these companies:

Ecology Jobs | Ecologist Job Careers

and

GreenLink ecological solutions - GreenLink

Both do bat, amphibian and reptile surveys. Both appear to recruit frequently. Bear in mind probably the bulk of the work for a basic ecologist (starting out anyway) will be phase 2 vegetation survey, as reptile work is quite seasonal.
There are also several recruitment agencies to get in touch with, also try the appropriate magasines, ie the new scientist etc...

Apply to work in the reptile house of a zoo or wildlife park.

Do some sort of travelling were you take a selection of reptiles around schools or werever you are bucked and learn them about reptiles.

Depending on your age, i recommend under 30 start animal medical school and train to be a specialesed reptile vet.

Good luck
Issues with the above suggestions:

starting a reptile shop - requires quite alot of capital and includes alot of costs.

Dont mind traveling and educating kids about reptiles, would love to do that, but do you actually get paid for that? and if so, how do you make money from it, who pays you?

Train as a rep vet - this one I would also love to do, but it also requires alot of money, and cannot earn while I do it, along with the fact that to be a vet you need 3 A-Levels in cirtian subjesct, which i do not have.

Apply to work at a zoo - all the positions I have seen in Zoo's require a degree or some form of qualification.

so realistically the options I have from the above are work at a zoo if I can find a way of doing so without qualifications and the school thing if anyone can help me out with how I go about doing these things would really appreciate a PM!

Re: Ecology jobs, I generally spend my life scanning the following job pages:

http://www.environmentjobs.co.uk
http://www.environmentjob.co.uk
Countryside Jobs Service: CJS Daily Online
Acre | Environmental Jobs | CSR Jobs & Sustainability Jobs | Climate Change Recruitment

There appear to be a couple of posts with the Herp Conservation Trust - though even with my conservation degree I don't think i'm qualified enough

Just wondering what a conservation degree entails and where you did it? Maybe best to take it to pm... but might be useful to retri.

By the way you can do open university courses, or even part time at a university so you can work while you do it. Most universities will consider students with various a levels even if they are not directly relevant if you make the effort to catch up... not vet science though, they are actively turning people away as there just aren't the places...

Well, full title is 'Biology with Conservation and Biodiversity' (this one here: Biology with Conservation and Biodiversity,C1C9 - Undergraduate Prospectus 2009) - basically a Biology degree but the modules relating to conservation and biodiversity are core, whereas as 'straight' Biology students have fewer core modules and more flexibility in their module choices. But we get a longer degree name We also got first choices for certain project/dissertation supervisors... which was very handy!

Fair enough... that makes a bit more sense. And are you using it now? And did you find the conservation modules useful?

The reason I ask is that I work with numerous conservation biologists, but have some concerns with the types of things that get taught.
