Hey

Im Chris and im 13

And i really would like a saturday job with a reptile/animal shop, Would anyone be kind enough to give me a saturday job or know a shop ( Around leeds wakefield area) What would offer a saturday job?

wont be easy for you, in fact i'm not sure you supposed to be allowed to work in a shop at 13, someone will probably tell you i'm talking BS since i'm not certain myself but i'm pretty sure you have to be at least 14..maybe 15.

when i was that age i was told all i could do was a paper round. dont know if its changed now but i couldnt do any other work until 16, i think its something to do with national insurance etc as 16 is when you get issued with the national insurance card isnt it??

most places wont employ under 16's because of insurance reasons

Good luck to you mate! just get out there and keep trying it'll pay off in the end! try offering to volenteer your services free, it may leed on to a paid job and people might be willing to over look your age if you are free!

Well if contacted some reptile centers if i can volunteer so just waiting for a reply

I started work in a supermarket legally at 14 and that's going back quite some time now, so you should be able to work at 14. I was paid £2.14 an hour to stack shelves though ... which was a fortune to me back then!

I know I personally do not take volunteers or work experience under 16 due to insurance reasons, not because I don't want to, I just can't afford extra premiums on the shop for the added liability, but plenty of reptile shops do take work experience so I'm sure somewhere will accept a volunteer at least, then you can get some experience and something on your CV for when you're older

I worked in a harware shop when i was 13 for the grand sum of £1.50 an hour.

Instead of a saturday job, maybe consider volunteering at a zoo? You won't get paid but it will be experience and a springboard to bigger things.
