What are your veiws with a boa contrictor being kept with a reticulated python, leopard tortoises kept with iguanas, nile monitor kept with hinge back tortoises? Reasons for asking is I visited a place today and was shocked.

hi i would be shocked at that to, retics can be very terrortorial and will defend their area especially if male and boa is male, my nile monitor would look upon a tortoise as either food or a plaything would not house anything with her typical nile temperament and my iggys are viv defensive so house individually
this place you visited is setting a bad example and people may get the impression you can house these animals together for life

6ft female nile monitor
male retic
female bali retic
3 iggys
2 tortoises

Yep thats why I thought I'd share my findings to see what you all thought. I truely was shocked. Don't get me wrong they all looked well etc, just it goes against the husbandry of what I feel is right???

Simply put:

Pythons & Boas kept together = A short or long death by IBD in a huge amount of cases.

Tortoises with Lizards of different continents = A long painful death usually culminating in herpes type infections caused by alien pathogen transfer via fecal consumption and the process of geophagy (usually by the tortoises). I would say this would be a foregone conclusion in most cases.

THREE COUNTS OF UNECESSARY SUFFERING RIGHT THERE.

*sits back and waits for the shelled section hit men to realise these torts must be in vivs if theyre with iggies *

yes i'd say its very wrong, i would have asked to speak to whoever is in charge, as iggies monitors and torts will all require different temps humidities and very clearly enclosures, so they cant be getting correct care they need.
interested to know how the boa and retic are fed also. sounds like it would be a blood bath to me
