Who can i contact???

To get a rep shop i went into yesterday re assesed or something...

My reasons as follows (please feel free to tell me im wrong in wanting something done if you think so)

First thing is i walked in and saw an "8 ft surninam" in the same viv as an even bigger retic (burm in my opinion) Now the fact that they were in together was bad but i was told by someone who works/worked there that they feed their snakes together, this came along when i was told that the group of baby af rocks they have all in one viv were fed together one morning and they person feedin them walked away and didnt watch out for any misshaps..when questioned about it, he said something like, "just leave them, they'l be fine." This person was then informed when the inevatable happened and one started eating another, again he just had the "oh well" attitude and left them. By the time the snake had been eaten so that there was a few inches of tail left, he then CUT off the rest with some scissors as "customers would see" (the afrock incedent was a while back)

This burm was lying directly on the heatmat too. Not only that, not one of the beardie, skinks, or any lizard for that matter had any form of heat that i could see, just UV tube lights. the animals were all lethargic and seemes lifeless. There were some butterfly agamas that were so skinny too.

This shop also has rodents and birds etc, some of the birds had sores on their beaks and wings and the rodents all seemed to be freezing.

This isnt the half of it but so far, does anyone agree with me in that its horrific and needs reporting?

I think your local councils enviromental health department will be your best bet, They lisence the shop and should do checks anyway. Reporting anything to the RSPCA just gives them more reason to disagree with reptile keeping.

I reported a pet shop recently to the local council. They investigated immediately; if the shop is found to be breaking laws, they can have their licence revoked. Even if the council cannot revoke the licence, the fact that the pet shop owners will be questioned may be enough to make them clean their act up.

Basically you can report what you see and what you feel is wrong to the council. You can't really report what someone else told you happened - that's their job to report it, you can't go on hearsay, rumour or second hand information, you need facts. What you know to be true 100% and would stand up in court and say how you know it to be true 100%.

Cheers guys, i think im going to contact them today. Im going to write out a list of everything i thought was wrong first, to make sure i dont miss anything out!!

Hi all,

Why not go back to the shop in question and arrange to speak to the manager or person in charge.

As you have said put a list together, and all the points you want to bring up.

Have the talk and see how they react, if they do not agree with you get some people to go in and record of what they see, don't take pictures with out permission.

Go back and see them, tell them what has happened are they going to change things depending on what happens, then I would take action and get in touch with the licensing authority, or give them some time to make changes If you can see no difference after a resonable amount of time.

I would make an appointment to go and see the licensing people and present your info and the other peoples to them.

Id report it as thats not on. I recently reported a local pet store for quite frankly one of the most sickening things ive seen ever and im still waiting to hear back from it.
