This is probably a stupid question but what does "LTC" mean when shops are selling Reptiles/?

yup long term captive, meaning it was originally wild caught but has been living in captivity for 2+ (i think) yrs

How long a Wild-Caught animal has to be in captivity for to be considered "LTC" is not a standard thing.

Seller #1 might not call an animal LTC until it's successfully bred in captivity and proven it is eating well on readily available prey.
Seller #2 might consider two years in captivity LTC, whether or not it's even feeding reliably.
Seller #3 might consider "I got it off the wholesaler's truck thirty minutes ago" LTC.

There's no legal or industry-accepted definition of the term.

I fully agree with the above. In fact just this week I have heard LTC referred to as 3 months. It all depends how you view it.

generally the suppliers and importers I have traded with consider 18 months LTC
