I am passionate about wildlife, some of you know that. I want to die knowing I have done something good not just for myself but for animals and that's why I would like to get into conervation.
I ant my job, my mission to be saving wildlife and I tihnk conservtion is the way to go. What kind of qualifications etc do you need to get into a conervation job?

EnvironmentJobs.co.uk is a pretty good jobs website for that kind of thing.

It entirely depends on what kind of conservation job you want.

Do you want to be the man in the office, devising local or national conservation strategies?

Do you want to be involved in conservation research?

Do you want to work for a conservation organisation, working with the press and public to try to raise awareness about key conservation issues?

Do you want to be the 'man on the ground'? For example, working as a reserve warden, doing practical habitat management?

There are many, many different opportunities in the conservation sector, though they are generally all very competitive.

It really depends on which angle you want to approach it - this will determine whether a degree is necessary, or whether those three years would be better spent doing volunteer work/practical work and supplementing with short courses.

I know that's not much help - but hopefully will help you think about exactly what 'part' of the conservation sector you want to be in, which will in turn help you decide which qualification route would be best.

Keep checking your local council website too. i keep applying for stuff...nothing yet . Ah well...keep trying.
Local council jobs arnt always the best mind you, or the most animal focused. but! they will pay for degrees/courses ect if you make it known your wanting to do them and approach managers ect about it. So its a step up from nothing and it helps get free courses, derbyshire has told me twice they would pay for a conservation degree after 6 months with them if i got the job..i never did :P
