probably depends where you're coming from, obviously with the shows you can bring them back without any hassle but you also see news reports of people done for smuggling when customs have found reptiles in suitcases etc.

I managed to find this link
http://www.beardeddragon.org/articles/ukimport/ It talks more about getting an animal sent over for you but I imagine that the same paperwork is required if you were personally bringing them across. There is also a huge cost implication. I spoke to BA recently as I am picking up a P. baroni from Scotland tomorrow, the flight is 1.5 hours, the train journey 5.5!! To fly the snake back would cost £350!!! All flight companies, if they do allow reptiles to be transported, and not all do, will insist on it going into the cargo hold, and charge a fortune for the priviledge, no matter how small the container.
