Default Reptile Importation Laws?

I am curious about the laws regarding important reptiles? As in if you were to go on a holiday abroad and come back with a reptile would there be anything you'd have to do in order to take them back?

As far as I'm aware you don't need to put them into Q/T like you do with dogs cats etc but not really looked into it before.

Cheers if anyone knows or can point me to a website.

*note I am googling it but would like someone to say in order to confirm*

probably depends where you're coming from, obviously with the shows you can bring them back without any hassle but you also see news reports of people done for smuggling when customs have found reptiles in suitcases etc.

Aye this was my thoughts, I mean what I'm mainly thinking of is USA shows and bringing them back? Or even just if you went to the USA on a holiday and came back with something... But I can't really find any information about it.

I managed to find this link

http://www.beardeddragon.org/articles/ukimport/

It talks more about getting an animal sent over for you but I imagine that the same paperwork is required if you were personally bringing them across.

I just took a look at the C-88 form! Ha! It doesn't even look like a form more like an abstract pattern across the page. Seems quite hardcore

There is also a huge cost implication. I spoke to BA recently as I am picking up a P. baroni from Scotland tomorrow, the flight is 1.5 hours, the train journey 5.5!! To fly the snake back would cost £350!!! All flight companies, if they do allow reptiles to be transported, and not all do, will insist on it going into the cargo hold, and charge a fortune for the priviledge, no matter how small the container.
