Default Tubular heaters?

Have a tubular heater I want to use in my new iggy room, it's wired up to a thermostat but still is getting too hot. Does anyone use one of these things and if so how is best to use them? How much do they cost to run?

We use them at the animal centre and when I get the money saved up for my pet room makeover I hope to have a few myself. They can get hot, so at the centre we have guards around them so the animals cant actaully touch them but still benefit from the heat. I hear they're cheaper to run than bulb and heatmats (at the same time).

Me neither but I know the stat is working. I've placed the heater vertical so the iggy can't climb on it or get near it. I'm so pleased it is cheap to run or I don't know what i'd do. Would have to sell my soul to pay for the lecky bill LOL.

dont know if this is why but i have a new tubular heater still in the wrapper and on the instructions it states to put the heater on the wall horizontal and not vertical ?? maybe thats why its not working right ??
