more women than men ,
lots of women will own 1 beardy or 1 corn ,
whereas 1 man tends to own lots of herps ,
so imo more women with less herps & less men with more herps .
if that actually made sense ?

I read in a book of mine 'The Art of Keeping Snakes' that more men are interested that women. I'm in contact with a couple of serious, professional herpetologists and none of them are women.

I would say more of my customers are women than men - most of the women seem to have lizards but there are a fair few out there with snakes too! However, I would say over 70% of the breeders I know are male. All the reptile shop owners I know who are female also run the shop with a male partner who is into reptiles, and usually when I ask it is the man who got the chick into reptiles.

For the record I am female..

I have found that if there is a male customer in the shop, and both myself and my partner are there, they will always make eye contact with him, ask him the questions, and when he says.. ask my girlfriend, she's the expert, i don't know... they are always suprised and sometimes reticent to talk to me. If he's not there, then they have no problem asking me questions.

Women on the other hand always come in and talk to me first rather than him.

Every man ive come across (in general, like where i work and so on.) have been afraid of lizards, snakes and especially insects. What a load of whimps ive come across! lmao!

I see more women than men at my local, but more male kids tbh.
But i dont actually see the point in this thread. o.0
Why does it matter. Curiosity yes, but i dont see the point in investigating it.
(sorry im grouchy right now)

My partner Sacha and I get that all the time too! When I go with her to look for snakes and we ask questions they ALWAYS direct the answer to me - even if SHE's asking. Weird. Or is it sexist??

Sexist.
You should say..
"sorry to interrupt, but your looking at me? My partner has asked a question and your looking at me why?"

That'll soon shut them up and make them pay attention to her.
