Default Sales of Iguanas in Spain

Hello People,

I just came back from Spain after a week sunning it up.

Whilst out there i visited Barcelona, i went down a famous street called 'The Rambles' (i think). What i saw wasn't really pleasant at all. There were at least 5-6 pet stalls that were selling, among other things, baby and juv Iguanas for 22Euros a piece. They were also selling Herman's, Horsefield's and one or two Spur-Thigh's. They were all out in the baking sun with no shade at all and when i asked the vendor whether he had papers or anything for the Torts he gave me a shrug and handed me a hand-written care-sheet.

They really need tougher laws over there for this sort of thing.

Yea i went to Barca a couple of years back (gotta be one of my fav cities) La Rambla is kind of an insititution, but i was horrified by the animal stalls... the pet shops had dogs in too. It is being reviewed and supposedly the animal section will be removed though.

It is an amazing city. Been there 3 times myself, this is the first time i've seen the pet stalls though. Really put a damper on the day. That and the fact i had to chase a bag thief through a huge park.

Last time I was in barca I was going through a fruit stall and found this stupid woman selling little turtles (No idea what kind) out of ice cream tubs. Water was clean and all but still - not exactly what I would call ethical.

It's a bloody shame this still goes on. But from a country that still has Bullfighting as a national past-time, what else can we expect.
