I only insure my business reptiles and not for vet costs - only for loss, theft etc. as part of my business policy.
I did however use exotic direct for 2 years with my parrot. It was £6 a month and there was a discount on the 2nd year for a no claims bonus
Unfortunately in the 2nd year she died, and I had to claim back for loss. I received a cheque within 7 days for the full amount of the value she was insured for in the event of death... I did have to pay for the post mortem myself.. so bear that in mind, PM was £50.. so if only insuring a snake for £50 it's not really worth it as they do not refund the PM costs. She was insured for £400 so definitely worth it.
