I'm sure the shops and manufacturers will start to take the ps when normal bulbs become hard to come by.

Think of how much money a new reptile brand could make if they produced the bulbs for half the price of Exo-Terra

There was a thread about this , gives some details on the use

http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/gener...-bulb-ban.html

Page 2 has a link to the details

section 5 reads

5)
Products subject to this Regulation are designed essentially
for the full or partial illumination of a household
room, by replacing or complementing natural light with
artificial light, in order to enhance visibility within that
space. Special purpose lamps designed essentially for
other types of applications (such as traffic signals,
terrarium lighting, or household appliances) and clearly
indicated as such on accompanying product information
should not be subject to the ecodesign requirements set
out in this Regulation

Does the ban not only apply to '100W Pearlescent Bulbs'?
This therefore does not include 100W Spot bulbs? Right?
A Spot Bulb is different from the Pearlescent Bulb in every single way. Right?

EDIT - scrap that, read the linked thread, all Q's answered

Just bought 10 on eBay for £9.50 including postage. That should keep me going until I will have to pay the extra for reptile branded ones.

So would a normal halogen spot light, one like this 1 x PAR 38 Halogen ES E27 100w Flood Spot Lamp Bulbs on eBay (end time 21-Sep-09 22:48:08 BST) provide heat? If so then i'm not really bothered by the ban as these last longer.

Yeah, this type of spot bulb would provide heat.

Sweet, they're still cheaper than the reptile branded bulbs and they last a long time.
