Its fine if you clean it.

Fill the bath or something with Hot water enough to cover ther bit of bark, add 10% of bleach.. so if using a bath you need quite a bit.

soak it ten mins in the bleach hot water. you may need to weigh it down as bark floats.
Get a brush and [with more bleach on it] and scrub it all over all sides,
dip it in the water then scrub it again.
then leave it sittin in the bleach water for half hour.

rinse it under the tap for 5-10 mins.
shake it to get some water out, fill bath with fresh clean water and leave it to soak for a bit [10 mins] run it under tap again, shake again.
leave to soak a bit more, maybe change the bath water again and then when you can rinse it and it doesnt let of bleach bubbles and it doesnt smell of bleach then its done.

Leave to dry, can put in frot of heater if you like to hurry it along as it will take some serious time to dry at normal room temp.
careful for the puddles on the floor as it dries so sit it on newspaper, or plastic etc.

If you use the oven i think 15 mins at 180 degrees does the job.

if you give it a little scrub with bleach, then a good rinse then u could use the ovewn to dry it, then once its dried leave it in another 15 mins I guess.
