Default Organising a reptile Show....

for you essex guys and gals, i've emailed the peoplee who run The Shire Hall in Chelmsford about organising a reptile show
and they replied...

"Thank you for your enquiry. I am currently investigating this for you as we have not been asked to hold this type of event before. If I may ask some questions please.
Will you be the organiser?
Have you done this before?
Are you a pet shop owner or member of the public?
Where would the animals be coming from?
and any other details regarding the running of the event."

What can i send back?

If you dont know the answer to most of those then you shouldnt really be organising such event imo.

They're fairly straight forward questions really and they are asking to find out if its possible to hold the event.

Will you be the organiser? Yes
Have you done this before? No
Are you a pet shop owner or member of the public? Member of the public
Where would the animals be coming from? From Breeders around the UK
and any other details regarding the running of the event." This will basically be like a craft fair but with Reptiles. Breeders will pay to have a table to sell the reptiles. None of these reps will be considered danagorous (sp)

Does that help at all??

Why do you not ask the peeps who arranged the Barking show for help?

Just remember there is a LOT of work involved with running a reptile show including legalties as currently there is some debate about whether it is even legal to run open shows.

As you are not an affiliated organisation, I would suggest PM TBUK or emailing him as he is running the Exeter show and ask what legalities and paperwork need to be attained. I am sure that insurance may need to be considered also.

It's not a simple as just finding a venue.. in fact finding a venue must be the easy part!

To organise a show it often involves juggling between the venue holders (basically whoever the people are that allow the event organiser(s) to have the expo), the traders, customers and how many figuratively are attending. Dealing with payment for people wanting to book tables and having unexpected cancel traders before the show. There are so many tasks and it takes a full year to have it all come together. Ideally it helps if you are a committee member of an organisation, clubs and societies or own a reptile shop.
