Default DWA Question

Ok being wholly hypothetical here, would it not be possible to pay a (corrupt lol) DWA holder to go into a shop and buy an animal for you?

i mean, all they need to see is the licence right?

Just a thought borne out of concern for the welfare of the animals!

of course but you could also just pay a corrupt shop keeper to sell to you without a license

legally speaking, the shop keeper (or other seller) does not have to see your dwa to sell you a dwa species...

(yeah yeah, i know, daft isn't it)

most legitimate sellers.. both trade and private.. will ask to see one before they sell though... or at least should i say.. they SAY they will always ask...

i do know some exceptions to the rule, who would never sell without seeing, but i also know a fair few who would not..

there is also the point that you do not need a dwa to buy a snake in Hamm or Houten... and all you need to do with that is drive it back home, and job done. If you are found on uk soil in possesion of a dwa species, without the license though, even if you are on the way home, it still becomes an offense to have it.

hot snakes move about far more than people realise.. and not always in the best ways... the jungle drums tell of hots in the post for instance..

yes, and yes. (and no, i wouldn't to, the first)

there are DWA animals, not just reptiles, in uk collections, with no license.

have been for years.. will continue to be so for years.. it does not help that the DWA is not considered to be the right "vehicle" by many..

(and no, before you ask.. i don't )

I dont know i just think id rather have a fight with a dwarf caiman than a rottweiler or a 30ft retic!

I just think the DWA hasnt graded the animals people can legally own properly! As far as i can tell they haven't clue and its just another big money spinner!

marucs i totally agree..

with animals like racoons coming off in october... *sigh*

the thing is, we need something like a Private Keepers License..

i agree that animal sales and keeping of some species need to be controled.. but i have no faith in the DWA to do this.
