bug book ?

[Voodoo Royal Morphs]

Has anyone seen the advert for the insect book you can collect fortnightly i think its just wrong each issue you get a insect of some sort in a little plastic box.

so every issue they make an animlal has to die the first issue is a scorpion

why is it necessary for people to do this.

are you sure its real? lots of people have taxidermy stuff, there is quite alot around.

it is real it one of them magazine you pay like 99p for yje first one then £5.99 for the next issue every 2 or 4 weeks .

thats it i think its just one of them things people but for a few weeks then met bord of it feel soory to the poor bugs that have to die for no real reason.

i think it looks very interesting, just a shame they have to die for it, id of been happy with plastic bugs.

I just popped round my local shop and got the first copy, its actually well written(and something for all ages, i'd read this and so would my daughter), its endorced by the natural history museum and states that these animals are farmed and not including rare or endangered species

Its all about perspective, one of the editions has a locust in it, how many of those have we given to our lizards along with crickets, mealworms, wax worms etc

Also dont forget many of these species are eaten in their millions as part of the human diet(not me personally though)

do you remember that other bug magazine for kids that used to come out about 10/15 years ago? I can't rememeber the name of is now but they had a glow in the dark model spider that you pieced together with each issue I collected every issue! The spider was a bit naf but the mag had lots of cool images and info for an 8 year old... ah, those were the days!

It's not really any different to other taxidermy collections. They are farmed and aren't endangered or anything and I personally think it is great giving people the chance to study real specimens of insects in close detail without much trouble giving people the chance to appreciate them a bit more. Plastic bugs are great, but in the end they are plastic they don't show the details of the bugs, the features that can be used to identify them and you can't learn that much from a piece of plastic because it isn't anatomically correct to the microscopic detail. Taxidermy isn't my thing personally, but I do collect fossils and no plastic replica truely replicates the real thing and thus limits the knowledge you can gain from it.

Ain't my cup of coffee personally though
