Or it could have caught itself on something and now has an internal infection. Just phone some rescue. It's either going to lie there and live but be scared shitless (pigeons are stupid, even racers), lie there and slowly suffer, or eventually die.

if it's stunned your best bet is to put it in a dark box however if it has a hole it'll more than likely be infected. i personally would leave it there and let something have it for tea (after all thats nature). if you take it a rescue centre they'll just snap it's neck (which to me seems a waste).
i know this as i used to work at a rescue centre.

wow, people have been realy un-helpfull, my internet has been down so sorry I didn't see this sooner.

is the wing being held normaly or is it dropped? if it is dropped how badly? if the wing is broken it may be able to be fixed, depending on where the break is and how bad, but it will need to be set pretty soon as bird bones heal very fast. if there is just a wound the best thing you can do it to clean it up, remove any dirt or dried blood. do not be afraid to pluck a few feathers from around the wound site as this will help to keep it clean and they will soon grow back (don't pull out any flight feathers, these are rooted very deep and will hurt if plucked) the wound can then be treated with some general anticeptic such as savlon, as long as it is reasonably clean. this will have to be checked and re-dressed daily until the wound heals. if there is any infection already set in then it will need antibiotics, which will have to be obtained from a vet. if you are willing to care for the bird, and pay for the treatment then a vet is obligated to treat it, they will not just put it down because it is a pigeon. if you simply drop the bird off then, although they have to take it, they don't have to, and probably wont treat it. many wildlife rehab centres will hapily take on the bird, although I don't know of any in your area off hand. the vet may also be able to help with this, as they should have a list of contacts that they can give you. feeding should be pretty simple, most will hapily eat mixed wild bird seed. housing does not need to be complicated. the easiest method would be to line a large cage or cat box with news paper, provide a bowl of seed, water and a perch. at least to begin with, while the bird may be in shock, it is best to keep it somwhere warm and quiet.
hope that helps

its a pigeon...id bonk it on the head if it cant fly or owt. put the poor thing out of its misery as they often die of shock anyways.
do you live in a rural area? if its a wood pigeon and hes pretty fat id recommend taking the breast meat.
melt some butter in a frying pan and gently sweat one large onion coarsely chopped. then flash fry the breast meat and garnish with gravy!
jobs a goodun!

i wouldnt try it on a ferral pigeon tho if you live in a town as they are often fed on fag butts and all sorts of crap rather than grain etc from a farm
