Default Progress!

Right, After a lot of faffing - My first DIY viv is nearly complete! Going to be home for my lil' familly of Leos. This means my Royal can have their viv after I've fixed it up a bit! He'll be very happy after being stuck in a glass viv with not much to explore! (I rescued him and there wasn't anything else i could put him in!) And finally - My female rankins is gravid - YAY

Congrats! I'm part way through my third viv. My first was atrocious, kinda like an optical illusion. My second was properly built but chose wrong stuff to seal the wood and the Tegu tipping her waterbowl over has started to make the bottom rot.

3rd time lucky though eh!

I'm the worst ever at DIY. I can do things fine if I can be bothered. Otherwise it's "bodge it and scarper". I'm determined to do everything right this time though.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist - I've gotten so close to kicking the absolute c*** out of it so many times. In fact, if you were listening closely about ten minutes ago i'm sure you heard me shouting extremely loud obsenities - wherever you are . I've not got much left to - just ordering stuff like lamp holders and the glass which I'm pleasantly surprised is not costing more than 15 quid for a 36"x15" viv (not toughened, but will have handles engraved and smoothened edges!)

That's what I was like with the last one. I HATED the viv until it was finished. 4 coasts of paint on the thing though and still rotting Grr! Bad choice in sealing it. This time I've gone for ply and good varnish.

The smoothed edges are a must... I made that mistake once and it cut my runners to shreds.
