Question about selling reptiles online

HI

I want to ask what do you need to sell reptiles etc online (i'm talking licences and that)? Me and My otherhalf are currently setting up a website, we have the web address and I'm currently in the process of doing all the technacal stuff

I've seen quite a few people on here have links to there own sites where you can see the animals they have available and just wondered what we needed. Had a look on the internet and can't find much about it. I know to set up a 'pet shop' you need a licence, is it the same online. Any information would be helpful.

How do you know who you are selling too if your selling via a website? Retailers have a bit of a social responsibility to sell to people who can give proper care to the animals they wish to purchase and turn away those that cant imo. The sites your probably refering too are private breeders listing their current available stock or proper shops rather than online retailers.

To sell online you wont need anything but to purchase wholesale your going to need a pet shop license from your local council.

Its pretty easy to set up, the only licences you may need are for the idividual animals, such as cites, artical 10s, dwa, etc.

If your operating as a business for a static location, you will need a pet shop licence, but that the case even if your not online.

If your 'just' a private breeder selling surplus stock, not as a business, then you dont (subject local councils take on the law !)

Responsibilty is a big thing in my book, and some online sources just send out willy nilly to whoever orders.

However, with a bit of work on the site, you can kinda get a feel for things via online forms, and We ALWAYS top that off with personal delivery. this costs, its an inconvieniance, and i am sure we loose some sales due to not using a carrier, but thats our way.

So, to be honest, if your a private breeder, no, no specieal licences to sell online, but delivery may be your biggest issue.

We are just privare breeders selling surplus stock, The same way we do over reptile forums, we just wanted a site that people can look at and see the animals we have.

Delivery will be by us personally, by reptile taxi or if the buyer wants to comme and collect. We arn't just going to sell to anyone, we too are big about responsibility. Thanks again

To be honest, it's not really e-commerce where you have a cart as such, I'd suggest a contact number or e-mail if somebody likes the look of one of your animals.

Yep its going to be a contact number and email address if someone wants to buy an animal, and payment will be either cas on delivery/collection or by paypal if using reptile taxi
