Not sure on lizards, but with snakes it varies between species... Some (mostly burrowers) are virtually blind. Most see fairly well but don't see the colours that we do as brightly and vividly, and can't triangulate as their eyes are on the sides of their heads (you see them move their heads side to side a few times to decide how far away an object is). Some (Pit vipers and Boids like my royals) can see thermal images as well as the light spectrum visible to us. Link to a nice explanation, and another to a nice downloady thing to play with!
