This is a three gene pair problem. The Kahl albino het anery has two Kahl albino mutant genes (albino//albino), a normal gene and an anerythristic mutant gene (normal//anerythristic), and two normal genes (normal//normal). The corresponding gene pairs in the hypo are normal//normal, normal//normal, and hypo//normal. By the way, it is often impossible to tell a hypo with one hypo mutant gene from a hypo with two hypo mutant genes. I'm just doing the one hypo mutant gene type. For the two hypo mutant gene type and other gene combinations, see the boa genetics and outcomes sticky at the top of this forum.
The three pair mating breaks down into three single gene pair matings: albino//albino X normal//normal --> 1/1 normal//albino = het albino = looks normal normal//anerythristic X normal//normal --> 1/2 normal//normal = looks normal 1/2 normal//anerythristic = looks normal normal//normal X hypo//normal --> 1/2 normal//normal = normal normal 1/2 hypo//normal = hypo We combine these results to get: 1/4 normal//albino normal//anerythristic normal//normal = het albino, het anerythristic = looks normal 1/4 normal//albino normal//anerythristic hypo//normal = het albino, het anerythristic, hypo = looks hypo 1/4 normal//albino normal//normal normal//normal = het albino = looks normal 1/4 normal//albino normal//normal hypo//normal = het albino, hypo = looks hypo As we cannot tell the difference between a het anerythristic baby and a normal baby, we combine those categories into 50% probability het anerythristic. This gives the final result: 1/2 normal looking, het albino, 50% probability het anerythristic 1/2 hypo, het albino, 50% probability het anerythristic These are the expected results after classifying thousands of babies. Actual results in a single litter of babies may vary. |
