The title says it all really - which ones do you rate? which ones do you hate?

I only really know of The Reptile Room & The Lizard Lounge (thanks to Louodge)

Reptile Room have let me down a bit - went in for a stat in an emergency, found out they dont even stock them and would take 5 days to get them in!! They had no real suitable hides in really, everything needed to be ordered in...

Lizard Lounge were good for me with the stat but they don't stock much in the way of hides and accessories etc although they may just have been low on stock when I went in? .. they have some LOVELY examples of reptile though and seemed to be very competetive on price.

I don't know whether i'm expecting too much for a reptile shop to keep stats in stock, and hides etc.. but I would imagine these are pretty essential things for a shop to have?

To be honest i wouldnt use Reptile Rooms again due to the mite problem they have.Every snake i have bought from there has had them,and after reading one of the threads on this forum about how diseases can be spread through mites its actually quite alarming that nothing has been done about it.Tbh the shop needs shut down while they deal with the problem,thats just my opinion though.

i wouldn't know tbh, i've only used the lounge and i'm very happy with them. After purchasing four beardies etc from there i've never had any reason to be unhappy, my beardies are healthy and stunning, the staff are good, and stock comes in regularly.

there are 2 others that i know of in Blackpool and ive used both helpful staff reasonably priced link on www.8legpetz.co.uk for world of water and the other is Fylde water gardens ltd Division lane FY4 5EA bit hard to find but lots of bits n bobs in there ,frozen food ,vivs,hides n livestock well worth a visit.

i wouldnt touch fylde water gardens with a barge pole , the place is crap reptile kept wrong, mixing species and they dont have a clue about anything, hardly any stock and the animals are not in good condition

What I have started doing is making sure I have spares of everything - so you don't have to depend on shops not having things in stock.

Lets be honest - the most important bit of kit apart from the heat is the thermostat - so IT MUST BE A STOCK ITEM - anyone selling a set up to someone new to keeping somthing as basic as a beardy - must go with a stat - I know its another 45-50 quid and can make a set up look dear - so what -------- what happened to the care of the animals first and financials second -

oh I forgot a credit crunch - look after your animals and customers and you wont feel the fuckin credit crunch ........rant over....... for now.....

oh yeah - shops - nothing to add really - I have had some good and bad expereinces from a few of the above - they appear to be trying to sort the mites in the rep room - too little too late - but they will be an aquatics place more than anything someone has told me in the very near future - a lot of people dont go in that I know as they have been offended or let down - shame really as it got a lot of people into the hobby in the north west - but I think it is saturated - the guy at the lizard lounge is very helpful ...... but the place was a shit hole when I went down ... but they have had numerous problems so I hope they make a go of it --- change the name to something like BLACKPOOL REPTILES, EXOTICS AND PET SHOP ... spread your scope of peoples understanding of what you actually sell, sort the place out, have a proper opening, get the gazette down for some positive coverage not when they have been fined

I agree with you shep on the fylde watergardens they are by far the worst reptile shop in the area. not even a good fish shop!!!!! but years ago they were very good it must be new owners or somthing
