any1 got any ideas y blue tounged skinks arnt as populre as bearded draggons i find them to be beutifull intellagent animals that with a bit of handling can be just as tame

Bearded dragons are more popular because they are quicker and easier to breed, giving more offspring. This makes them cheaper and makes more people buy them. Its unfortunate, i think theyre dull.

Beardies are cheaper. Maybe it's somthing as simple as that?

Also newbies tend to go into a pet shop and just buy somthing they like the look of.

Skinks aren't as available in pet shops.

have a tanimbar blue and it soon puts you off! the one i rescued and rehabbed was pure evil!!! though if it was a nice skink id prob have never rehomed it!

I personally dont see the fascination with beardies and think BTS are much better first pets! and prettier unless theyre trying to rip your fingers out the sockets like my rescue did

Im trying to popularise the blue tongues so that we can see more of them. I plan on breeding them in the future, however difficult it may be.

All you can do is post them up o nthe forum and hope people like them.

I'm kinda glad they're not as popular. That way they don't get over-bred and they seem alot more unique.
