Since our last blog things have settled into a routine. The weekly feedings continue with the first offered nice followed a few days by "rat treats". Some of the males which had been picky feeders have started feeding, which indicates they feel their job is done! *We have just collected our 18th clutch of eggs, but it is early. Many of the females are going opaque, quite swollen with eggs. *Now it is a critical time to make sure they are able to shed on time, as if they get stuck in shed they may lay the eggs prematurely. At the first sign of trouble we are sure to soak the females to aid in shedding. The theory is in the wild they would be underground in a more moist environment, but in our cages we may have to provide extra moisture at the critical point. *Especially with some of the milksnakes as they seem to have thin skins. *The mouse and rat colony is doing well, managing to provide enough "offerings" to keep everything fed.Hello to the Uk from Bob and Marilee, more as it happens!"
