officially no, but everyone can encounter problems if they are not prepd for the comitment. Just research talk to local herp shop etc

i have found that they r the easied reptile 2 house and maintain.
they r very docile animals, well apart 4m a few exceptions and r long-lived.
i am breeding mine 4 the 1st time atm and all is goin well
the main aspects of there maintainence is heating, wet box (2 aid shedding there skin), as well as there diet ie a high demand for calcium and 2 not handle them 2 much.
if u read up on THE LEOPARD GECKO MANUAL by Philippe De Vosjoli, it is by far the most indepth book on them out there. read this book thoroughly b4 u purchase a animal 2 gain an understanding of there needs.

look up caresheets on this site, there's a good one for leos. They are quite friendly and low maintenance but you have to bear in mind that they live as long as dogs do, and they require live food- which need looking after too.
