Cool Recycled Viv

Ok, so after reading through some of your homemade builds and recycling old furniture etc, its made me want to try and make my first viv from an old sideboard I have sat in the garage lol

The colour is awful but im sure a power sander could sort that out :P

The inside dimensions are 1200long, 480high and 370deep.
So almost 4ft long, 1.5ft high and 1.2 ft wide.

Would this size be suitable for a Beardie or would I be looking at something else for it?

This would be the first viv I have ever made so id like to spend some time on it to do it properly and hopefully make it look as impressive as some of yours.

Thanks for looking.

Looks like it will make a good viv. Good luck!

Ooo,
that has potential .
I personally can't help with the beardie question but I love to see that I'm not the only one who collects my spare cages and aquariums lol. They always seem to pile up!!!
We should fill them

haha yeah they soon mount up. The large one on top (jenny cage) may very soon be a new home to some Egyptian Mice

Cant wait to get cracking with the unit, should be good fun and a good way to learn I suppose

Not really deep enough for a beardie i'm afraid but there are an awful lot more lizards who would be more than happy in there. I look forward to progress reports

Ok, well i got cracking on with this anyway

So from this nasty old unit:

Stripped out doors, shelves and gave a good sanding off:

Coated in primer:

Nice green insides:

Trial fiiting tiles/glass runners:

Coat of satin black and vents fitted:

Waiting for black to dry so i can remove the tape, give it a hoover out then properly fit the tiles and runners

So what you guys think so far?

Got the glass on order which should be arriving at the merchants mid week

Oh, and thanks to Alfie99 for the kit

Any feedback/critisism will be appreciated :P

Hey!

I love to see people recycling old furniture into new creations! I had my very first go at this last week, was quite proud of myself doing it all by myself (have never DIY-d before!):

into this:

and its happy inhabitant!

Amazing what difference a couple of coats of paint can do. It looks better already have you decided who will be living in it yet?
