Default DIY VIV Materials help

hi all, i am lookign to get myself a beardie, and i think i am going to go down the route of making my own viv, with light acess panels etc and will look to hide wires blah blah blah, my dad is a carpenter and i can handle a saw and screwdrive

anywho, is there any material i should steer clear of when making my viv, i think ill go for the 3 solid sides and a glass slidy panelled front type,

was thinkinf MDF or pine etc etc but is there any type that is harmful or less healthy to them etc, or is any fine?

cheers for help guys

MDF or conti board is the best bet.

You can get them both from B&Q and they will cut it to what ever sizes you ask.

if your going to use MDF you need to either seal it then paint it or cover it in fablon, (sticky back plastic) to water proof it, and stop it swelling, then aquarium sealant down the joints.
Conti board comes already covered and available in various colours, but will still need some aqaurium sealant down the joints (anywhere that is not covered in the laminate)

as above just make sure if your not using conti board then it will need sealing

I used contiboard to build mine. Got B&Q to cut it and saved me loads of time. Just a case of screwing it together then.

my conti board for 4 new vivs is being delivered cut to size by B&Q on Monday. I have used 12mm ply for the backs as going to be housing boas so needs to be solid, for a beardie you will be fine with a hardboard sheet for the back.

Cant wait to get started
