the java wood in my brother's water dragon terrerium has what looks like mold growing on it, he says he's read up on it and its perfectly fine and moss will grow on it. it is damp in there.

im concerned because i know that any kind of mold in my frog terreriums needs removing immedietly. any help please?

if it looks like mould, it's best to be safe than sorry. in my opinion anyway.

The mold is normal in high humidity viv's it will go after a few weeks

damn, i threw away a nice piece of java from my Brb's viv last week because of mould, are you sure its ok? it was blackish in colour and i always thaught black mould was bad?

Does the moss just appear or do you have to plant it on the mould

mine just appeared on the wood, my Brb's viv is at a constant 80% humidity though and nice and warm... perfect for mould.

I had some mould on the wood in my water dragon viv the other day but I scrubbed it off. If I knew it turned into moss I would have left it alone.

and i wouldnt have binned mine hard to find around here, shops are rubbish although cornish crispa PM'd me (replying to my request) saying that they will try and get hold of climbing branches and bits of wood etc which would make life a little easier.

Shops are a bit like that round here too. Limited supply of decent wood and moss and what they do have its at prices I wouldnt dream of paying. Think I need to invest in a chain saw and attack some of the neighbours trees lol.

I always thought mould was dangerous in a viv though and could cause respiratory infections.
