hi all
what do people think is the best natural looking substrate?
other than newspaper and kitchen roll
i want somthink thats more naturla and makes the tank look prettier other than loads of kitcken paper
also whats best colour light bulb to use?
i see alot of people usein white lights in the picture but didnt think you were ment to?
or is it better as makes it more natural like day and night?

I use floor tiles for my substrate.
1:Easy to clean
2:No compaction worries
3:Natural looking
Some people use lino which is also a good idea.
As for lighting I have a 15w sunglo bulb on in the day and a 25w red bulb for the night just to give them a sense of night and day to keep their bio clocks the same as mine so feeding is easier.
Set for 10hrs/Day 14hrs/Night during Winter
12hrs/Day 12hrs/night during Summer

I have posted this picture a lot

right i know that leopard geckos dont naturally live on sand but it does look good .. BUT obviously using sand there is a risk of impaction .. so i thought id try something new .. i bought some of the bird cage sheets .. cut them to size .. brushed them off to make sure that they have no loose bits of sand on them and put them in the tank .. they have the same look as sand .. they are quite smooth and not that rough (so not like glass/sand paper used for filing wood) and there isnt a risk of impaction and now i have more natural looking vivs .. they are not that expensive either so can be replaced once needed .. i also used lino which i quite liked .. easy to clean and there are soooo many diff kind and can get some that look really natural
