Default snake poo and pond pump

Can anyone recomend an external filter that would be suitable to deal with snake feces. The criteria is as follows, the water area is 15cm deep and the pond is 28 litres in capacity. The pond is raised 10cm of the ground and there is room for a stream about a foot and a half with a height of about 20cm/plus another 30cm verticaly. All the pipe work and filter has to come out of the front very preferably. I can incorportate a drain and have the water can come directly down as far as 10cm and back up.Although I dont want dirty water going into the external pump without at least using a foam pre filter.

Ive reseached normal external filters but they have to be positioned below the tank, which I dont have room for. Ive been swayed towards a sump into a filter box., which ive been told wont block up.Id rather not do this because of the vibration on the floor of the pond from the pump.

Also any filtering tips which would be relavant to filtering snake feces, in terms of biological filtering as the feces will get mixed up if there is rapid water movement.

This is crossing over into other aquatic reptiles which require simalar filtering although the snake this is for is a false water cobra reaching possably 6 foot with a fast metabolism and always poos in the water.

Of corse im going to change the water but as part of the design criteria there might be a time when it wont or I might just scoop it out when seen and incorportate a biological filtering mechanism as its relativly large amount of water to keep changing frequently.

Any advice and tips are much apreciated, also to you turtle owner aswel as I guess its a simalar method.

Thanks in advance

Howard.

id just get a good fish tank pump, the snake feces you would probably have to spot cleen as its quite big for a pump even a pond pump if you have a big snake.

depends on the size you want , but a dirty water pump will do it. they have blades to cut up waste.

Cheers, ive been looking at heavy duty water pumps like dirty water pumps but they seem abit to powerful, like 650watts was the minimum that I saw.I was thinking of using these possably for emptying water direct from pond to the toilet as their head height is 9 meters

I was wondering if there was any external filters that are compact and can be possitioned above the water line.Fluvial and Tetratec seem to the ones most commonly sold in retail outlets but these need to be below the water line and are bulky.

any pc water cooling pumps like from dangerden can be ran from a 12v line , and are quite powerful. if you want something more look for a 12/24v bilge pump from marine stores (there about £30 on ebay) and can deal with some large solids due to the ecentric cam design. pm me if you want advice on which one to buy as bought a few in the past years lol

I think I might go with that, if I can fit it under. Been looking at various set ups and it seems to be the best option.Either way I know im going to be getting wet trying to set it up.
