These fit directly to the malamine top of the viv. You do need a bulb holder/mount which is rated high enough (ceramic rather than plastic), and heat proof flex... I would suggest buying from a reptile store, rather than trying to save money buying in B&Q!

Must be used with a stat of course, and be aware that even the guard can get hot!

the bigger the cage and the bigger the wattage the more damage the ceiling its attached to takes, and ur is pretty big on both, if put a heat proof piece between the ceramic and the ceiling, id suggest a bathroom tile, just a regular ol tile nothing special, the ceramic tile material will protect the viv and stop that slight burning smell when the ceramic heater gets cranked up (when u open the doors etc and the stat sensor feels the cooler air it turns the heater on full whack to compensate)

if u need to drill the tile to pass ur ceramic heater's bolts and wires thru use a masonary drill bit (not on hammer action)

most guards require you to take a nick out of the mesh with side cutters to allow for the cable. it's very easy though so dont worry!

always go for the biggest size element you can. a 250watt heater 'needs to do less work' to uphold the temperature. you must use a pulse / dimming stat with any ceramic. this will makesurte the ceramic only uses the power it NEEDS, which makes for smaller elecricity bills!

here is my setup with guards, a 250wattceramic heater + reptiles-ink guard. and the second is a 500watt AHS heater with reptiles-ink guard.
YouTube - Boa Constrictor + Royal Python setups - Ben and Basil

look up reptiles-ink on these forums. he sells guards, ceramic holders and heat resistant cable all made to measure.
