Default Does this sound ok to you?

I need a rack built spur of the moment to house 12 50L RUBS. My mum's friend's husband is quite handy so we contacted him. I had the idea of a solid unit built from some kind of melamine of something, like most other people's which i have seen on here, but he was convinced that would work out far too expensive and wouldn't let me stick with that idea basically. So he has drawn up plans to make it with dexion instead- anyone else done this on here? I have made it has flat wood shelves so that the heat mats can stick on them. and it's going to have wooden sides, back and top so heat isn't escaping. The only thing is it's going to cost £100 or more, and i gather from a few other people's threads that they have built racks made from solid wood, even going to B&Q to get it, which is well expensive and have made it cheaper than this. The upside of dexion is that it can be dismantled and moved easier. Are there any problems you forsee i might have using it for a reptile rack?

just had a look what dexion is and you can buy the shelving units from B&Q quite cheap, then just get some thin MDF and silicon it onto the shelves. Sounds like he's just charging you a silly amount for putting together a flat packed product and making it look more difficult.

Well the thing is it has to be made exactly to fit a very tight space, so anything pre-measured just won't work.

I reccommend that you get a professional in and the space your talking about is a bit too small, and it is important to get it tight. MDF would work great for this.
