Default Therapy

Okay in a bid to stop trawling the classifieds on here and spending hundreds I have decided to occupy my time having a go at making a polystyrene platform for my beardies (I got a bundle of polystyrene from the boxes my snake hides came in!). However as it is my first attempt no laughing please! Photos to come...

Okay those pics....now just remember i'm a first time false rock builder!

Some boulders to get started with....

More boulders and a bit of a step shape to the front of the platform...

Top ledge on the boulders and a ramp for the little guys to climb up!

Just going to mix the grout and give it a couple of layers before the paint.

Thank you! Do you know how many layers of grout you are supposed to put on? Will one layer do it?

That looks really well, how did you get the edges so evenly rounded? Or was it just patience?

Patience is not a word often associated with me! I started with square blocks of polystyrene and cut the corners with the very tip of a sharp craft knife and kept shaving thin bits off until the corners were round. I also dragged the sharp tip of the knife across the flat surfaces in order to make them more rough and look more realistic.
