Default Beardie Setup

Well I have set up my viv in preperation for the baby

I have a 60W spot producing basking temps of around 115.

I would set the dimmer to 80 ish in the cool end but it would take forever for the temps to drop to this with the current climate! and by the time they did the whole viv would be 80!

Should I put an additional vent in the middle of the 3ft viv? I have 1 at the hot end and 2 at the cool end at the moment.... This would cool the cool end quicker right??

Oh so complicated!

The probe is about 1 inch from the ground on the cool end wall by the way...

what size are the vents you have at each end? if large ish in size then 1 at each end will be fine. some people even just put one at each end of the circular vents. make sure the stat prob is at the hot end about half way down the back of the viv, maybe even put it between the hot - middle of the viv

also make sure the vent at the hot end is at the top of the viv and the vent at the cold end is at the bottom. hot air rises and all that....

I brought my viv second-hand and it's all set up for the beardie who's arriving tomorrow, but the guy we brought it off had the vent at the bottom in the hot end and the vent at the top in the cool end. Now you've pointed out that hot air rises I've realised that our set-up doesn't make much sense!

The guy who owned it previously also put a sock over each vent because the crickets apparently kept escaping out of them. We've removed the one from the high vent but the other's going to have the stay on the vent until we think of a better solution... any thoughts?
