Is there a substrate that will dry like the ground in your garden rather than go all fluffy like cocnut fibre?

Cheers. I'll give that a go. When it dries out a little bit and goes fluufy, the tortoises can't walk on it properly.
Can you spray this stuff so it can be dug or once it dries is that it? EDIT. I actually have some of this at home. I've mixed it with the coconut but obviously need more of the sand to make it dry differently.
