Default Carpet subtrate advice please

Hi.

I am about to setup my new carpet viv.

I need some advice on substrate. I want something that looks good but easy to clean. I am thinking something like bark chips, but Im worried about how they would be effected by the humidity. Also how do I make sure the bark chips are clean and bug free?

Cheers
John

I use newspaper put through a shredder for my carpets, it looks better than flat newspaper but is still easy to clean.
