Default Converting Display Case Into Chameleon Tank

Hello everyone,

I recently got this display cabinet off my bro for £40 with the intention of building it into a chameleon tank, ive always wanted a chameleon and think this would be perfect as the measurements are....(where the "viv" would be)...4 1/2 ft height, 2 1/2 foot wide and 1 1/2 foot depth,

The thing i am wondering is.....
what sealant would be best to coat the inside?
what to do about the doors as it is on a hinge at the moment?, im thinking as long as i make sure i seal it, plug up any gaps and fix a suitable lock this will be fine

also obviously i will be removing the shelves and add heating, light etc

what are your thoughts, i think with a little bit of help from people who know about these things (ive never really been a handy man apart from if its electrical) this could be a wonderful set up,

thanks for looking

here is the display cabinet

I am afraid I know nothing of Chameleons or there care requirements. Other than height cos they like to climb. However this looks like it would make a great viv for rep, and I personally see no reason why (with a few minor modifications) it couldn't be used for a cham.

Stick plenty of vents in for ventilation
coat the inside with yacht varnish
for the gap around the hinges, i'd use use something like pond liner / visqueen / rubble bags. Glue a loose line down each side so there are no gaps when they're closed but wide enough to 'open' with the doors.

i made a viv out of MDF for some whites tree frogs, instead of varnishing it i just stapled a few layers of thick rubble bags to the inside.
