Question Soil Heater

Hello everyone,

I am currently in the process of building a viv for my BRB. Its going to be a fully planted viv, obviously with pretty high humidity. For this reason I decided to go with a reptile radiator as I have heard that they are good with humidity, and I have read posts praising their use with GTP's.

However, seems that it now sounds as if I'm not going to get the gradient across the length of the viv, and a suitable hot temp at one end.

So..... I'm thinking of fixing the radiator somewhere in the middle towards 'cool' end of viv in order to create the ambient/'cool' end temperature. With my reluctance to use a ceramic in such a wet environment I came across these to heat the soil at the 'hot' end. Has anyone used anything like this? sounds like it'll work in a similar way to heat mat/cable, but it can get wet and be placed in the soil which will be lining the floor of the viv.

Any advice welcomed.

Thanks,
Chris

that's pretty much the same as heat cable.. wires that heat up in a plastic coating.

OK, so can I use regular heat cable in the soil?

I don't know a lot about the reptile heat cables, but when I have seen them built into anyones vivs they appear to be put under the viv, or a piece of wood seperating it from the substrate.

I need something that can get wet and actually be in the soil.
