Question hot rocks

now before anyone jumps down my throat I DONT OWN ONE!!!!
but i was wondering,,,,i understand that these are very dangerous and will burn yor snake/lizard but why cant they be on a themostat like bulbs,ceramics and heatmats?????

i dont see why they cant but the problem is a stat is 30-70 quid a shot no one wants to pay that plus more for a rock that looks ****

They usually have a small built in thermostat to keep them at the right temperature, but the problem is a lot of them are shoddily made, and theres no visible sign of whether its on or off, unlike a heat bulb. If the built in thermostats break they can get stuck on and get hotter and hotter, which is why theyre potentially dangerous.

we use a household thermostat 4 our tort and it works no problem, keeps the temp at 30 to 32. much cheaper but have to wire it it in.
