Default Heat Cable And Light Dimmer

Hi all,
I'm just setting up my new vivarium stack and I'm ready to buy the heating elements. I was just wondering if a plug-in light bulb dimmer would work as a thermostat if I set it up according to my thermometer. It is for a group of leopard geckos!! (Will post pics of finnished setup next week!!)
Thanks

It wouldn't work as a thermostat as it has no way of adjusting itself as the temperatures vary.
The only way to keep it at a set temperature is to use it with a thermostat.

if the temperature in the room drops or rises a normal lighting dimmer wont automatically adjust accoringly. not a bad idea, ive considered it before but have opted for proper thermostats.

the only way it will work is if you are able to sit with your dimmer 24hrs a day watching the readout from the thermometer ,and turning it up and down when needed to maintain the right temperature.
