Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can reccomend the best size heat lamp/method for a 3' x 2' x 18" viv. I hace tried a ceramic heater and find that I do not get enough of a graident. Its warm all over. I'm thinking about an infa-red heat lamp ranging from 50 to 250 watt which could be on all the time, the viv will be for Green Anoles ( so basking site of 85-90 droping to 75-80ish at he other end required.) OR would a daylight basking spot lamp such as exo terra sunglo be better with a heat mat for maintaning back ground heat at night time.? I think the second option will give a more natural drop in temp at night time and a more realistic sense ot night & day for them. Depending on which option you think would be best any suggestions as to what wattage would be best. Many thanks for any advice you can offer.

In my 3' x' 18" x 18" viv I have a basking spot bulb at one end on a dimmer stat, which gives me a nice 10-15 degree difference between the hot and cold end, and then a 60W ceramic on an on/off stat for night time. Works a treat. If you can get enough of a gradient, just add another vent or two at the cool end.
