Smile Warming up my viv's

Well i use heatmats but that does not make the vivarium warm, soo i'm having to get a portable radiator outside the viv's too heat up the vivariums but at the same time it makes the room real hot and uses alot electric, anyone suggest anything i can use inside the vivs to make the whole vivarium warm.

Thanks

what are you keeping, where are the heatmats placed, what size are the heatmats, are they statted and at what temps, are you using a digital thermometer to check temps, where is the stat and thermometer probes placed (if used)?

a cornsnake and a leopard gecko, the heats mats are at one side of either vivarium, and i have don't know the sizes of each mat but they fit 1/3 of the vivarium, they are kept at 90, ye i use digital thermometers but they aint them special ones that remember the hottest and coldest the viv got, i just got the standard digital thermometer, and i have the stats probes near the heat mat and one digital probe on the substrate above the heatmat and one on the cool end, not to be rude but how come they were asked as i need to know something to make the vivarium warm instead of using a portable radiator

Use a ceramic heat bulb and take out the matt for the corn is probably the easiest option

the questions were asked basically so that people had more information to work with then was provided and so hopefully could provide answers that may help
with the case of the leo's heatmat if it's not reaching between 88*f to 90*F then I'd double check the mat or stat to see that they're working correctly ~ leos need belly heat in one area of the floor and a gradient of floor temps so that they can thermoregulate efficiently so warming up outside the viv isn't going to help

Don't forget to use a guard for the bulb or your poor corn will end up with burns.

To be honest hun you don't need a uv tube for leos as they sleep during the day and having a light on might disrupt sleep.

I use to use a red reflector bulb and a heat mat on the floor.
