My Bosc is the preverbial pet rock.

They burrow and sleep, eat, sleep, poop, sleep and then sleep some more.

I have several different pieces of bog wood of varying shapes to encourage basking and hiding places. He has yet to climb and bask rather climb to go over not up. I only put them in to wear down his claws, as still persists to sleep its pointless.

To be fair they are quite an inactive monitor in my experience, they need a large set up due to their size rather than their activity.

An Ackie would be a much better monitor, think Beardie but better! In the 5' viv you have you could house a nice pair or even a trio.

my bosc is extremely active, he has an 8x3x3 viv with a shelf along the back which he regularly uses.
heres a pic when i first put him in, he now has more rocks under the basking lamp and a big thick log on the cool end, theyre not really climbers but will scramble over rocks, logs etc.
