Default Advice on lighting my DIY viv.

Hi,

I've just built the shell of my beardie's (Bob) new home. It's measuring in at 4x3x2 (WxHxD). Now when i planned this, I never imagined how big it would actually be once assembled !

I now have the problem of providing enought UVA and B for Bob. Is there some way of calculating what is required for the distances i have ?

Any advice or pointers will be gladly recieved

cheers

Hi mate,

Mercury vapour or Metal halide spots would be your best bet for light, heat, uva and uvb. plus I would have another 2% tube to light the cool side of the viv.

Mercury vapour = NHBS - Mercury Vapour Bulb (125W)

OR mercury vapour = Exo Terra Solarglo Mercury Vapour Lamp - £ 35.99 - Diurnal - Lighting - Housing and Habitats - Reptile Products - Pets - Chemist Direct

Whats the difference despite the HUGE price gap

The exo terra is a uv lamp, though I would stear clear of exo terra M.V.Bs. Stick with Mega Ray, Komodo, or T Rex active uv heat (all the same bulbs made by Westeron ), at a push go with Zoo Med power sun.
