Default Cheaper board for viv stack build?

Hi

I'm in the process of designing a viv stack and the cost of the board is working out a lot more than I thought it was going to!
I've worked out that I need 10 sheets of 2440mm x 457mm x 15mm board. I really want to do it in the beech finish (well, my girlfriend refuses to have it in white!) and the only price I can find for this is from Homebase at £24.49 per board. So £250 before I've even done anything!

Does anyone know of anywhere at all that I can get this board, or something suitable, cheaper?? I live in South East London so delivery / collection could also be an issue...

Any help would be a huge help.

Matt

Well try a proper timber merchants rather than a DIY store, could make quite a difference. Or try MDY and use iron on venneer... Just a thought.

what's going in it?

if the girlfriend doesn't want white, she doesn't want a big white viv stack in the lounge.. So do the outside in beech so it looks nice but the shelves and back in something cheaper

you state board but dont say what sort of board, or provide a link if poss. Easier for people to look it up if they know what theyre looking for.

if it's beech and £25 at Homebase for an 8ft x 18inch then it's going to be contiboard.
Be cheaer to buy 8x4 sheets of plywood for £27 and varnish / stain it

Go to a proper timber yard and buy it in 8 x 4 sheets, which should work out cheaper, you'll probably find you can get a better quality laminate for your money too.

Cheers for all your help guys, I had a serious interwebs hunt and found a place in Essex that does 15mm 9' x 6' faced chipboard for £28 a panel, quite a bit better than the £244.90 that Homebase wanted!
Now to steal the work van (and warehouse since that board won't even get in my flat!) and get on with it :o)
