I would use 18mm mdf, biscuit joint if possible along with glue and screws. Paint the inside with a PVA solution for waterproofing before painting with a sduitable paint. Seal all edges with a suitable filler such as aquarium silicone or external acrylic filler (cheaper!). Think about a central pillar on the front face where the glass is, this effectively splits the viv up into 2 off 4 foot vivs to prevent sagging along the front edge!

Cheers, Lol

can I ask why are you thinking of going that big for your boa? I would have thought 6ft x 3ft x 3ft would be big enough the size you are thinking of would nearly be big enough for a burmese

Why not build it 8x4x4 save cutting the MDF also I have it on good authority that they need the extra headroom a mate of mine kept his 6ft BCI in a 6x2x2 viv and had loads of trouble with it crushing the bulb guards and bulbs. When he put him in a taller viv he stopped this behaviour and yes he could reach the bulbs.

Good idea on the sheet thing. Just to clarify by what I meant by centre oillar. This would be on the front face only, so you would have 2 4 foot "windows" into the viv. the inside would still be 8 feet

Cheers, Lol
