Just bought our first emperor scorpion yesterday. Its a male. I was wondering if anybody knew where to get the black lights from it might be fun to see him glow occationally (spelling).

Thanks

Good afternoon forum,

I had a question more out of cusiousity thanan ything else. I have a female Pandius Imperator, perfectly healthy. She had 11 babies about 10mnths ago now. I've been a bit worried about her eating habits. I think she's eaten once, maybe twice since. I tried removing her water bowl for a while to encourage her to eat for moisture but it was a total fail & she started looking a bit worse for wear.. She also took to burrowing under a small log I put in with her and ended up covered in a fine layer of white mold!!

I immediately took her out of her enclosure & popped her in something smaller with a water bowl, higher humidity & heat levels. The mold has now completely gone (won't be using THAT log anymore!) & she's bulked up a bit between tergites & sternites from drinking. She's back to her fiesty little self again!

My question is, how can I safely encourage her to eat again. I'm not concerned she is going to die or anything, she's quite active & always been quite fiesty for an Emperor. She seems to prefer drinking to the exclusion of eating. She is quite small for the species, only about 4inches & hasn't shed once since I bought her almost a year and a half ago??

Any ideas forum??? Like I said, I'm not concerned for her well being as she's quite fit & healthy. I just want her to grow!!

I bought an adult emp about 4 months ago, and he is a brilliant pet. They way they move and how he climbs is fascinating. And handling is always fun, just do it on bare skin otherwise you have to wait for him to crawl off your sleeve or trousers as you will never get them off!!! I named him Tyson due to his big hands (like he has gloves on) and his aggressive boxing stances when he gets defensive!! Couldnt find a more suitable name if i tried

I'm very tempted by an emperor scorpion. They look like real bruisers, but seem quite docile. I've never handled one, but I'm not worried about doing so - it's just that I read somewhere that it's not a good idea (same with tarantulas). I don't think the concern was for the handler. Do people commonly handle them?

I wouldn't make it into a regular event, but as long as your careful (like holding over a bed/close to the ground) they are fine to handle once in a while.
