Hi,

Ive only had my tegu for a few months and dont feed meat (cooked or raw). Try PMing Johelian, she's the resident tegu expert around these parts....

Tegu's are best fed on a diet heavier in veg and fruit than protein..too much protein can cause problems so we give ours a 70-30 ratio which has suited ours fine and he is extremly fit and healthy. we have also givenhim all the space he needs (6ft square pit) but thats only because we have the space. They do need the biggest viv you can find and so are pretty expensive animals to keep. But if you have the dedication and resources then fairplay to you as they are gorgeous and so much fun

Don't feed any reptiles tinned cat or dog food, it's too high in fat and salt, not worth the health risk.

then as someone with a little better knowledge, you should kindly suggest to them that they may be putting their tegu's life in danger and suggest a more suitable food source such as incets, fruits, veg and occassional mouse.
