Thanks for this! I've had an AFT since October but i'm having trouble keeping the heat temps up in his viv, i have a heat mat and cushioned wallpaper as a substrate with a scattering of sand over the top. Do you think the wallpaper is stopping the heat from coming through properly as its only reaching 79 F through the substrate?

your temps need to be a lot higher, around 90degees. I would take out the wall paper/sand and just use kitchen roll. are you using a digital thermometer? and a stat? as the exo terra dials are rubbish and dont give off an accurate reading. also we put cardboard under the bottom of the heat mat to insulate it more, what size heat mat are you using? as it has to cover a third of the viv.

well done, thats one of the main things I changed when I found out more on husbandry and getting the habitat right. Pet shops don't tell you sweet fa in my area.

well the round exo terra thermometers measure the air temps not the temps on the ground.
